Alyssa joined BRIT as a volunteer in 2013, during which time she developed a system to catalog our extensive map collection and, later, worked on the Flora of Texas mobile app. As a staff member, her primary duties include coordinating research activities and special collections, namely the BRIT archives and rare book collection. With a graduate school concentration in Archival Studies and Digital Imaging, Alyssa is passionate about BRIT as a knowledge center and promoting the accessibility of our library and herbarium collections. She recently worked on acquiring the NLU herbarium collection from University of Louisiana at Monroe containing over 450,000 herbarium specimens.

Alyssa writes the Hidden Treasures blog series, highlighting select items in the rare book collection. She also organizes the brown bag lecture series.
