Pick your 1.5 hour experiences:
Portrait of a Plant:
Using various math concepts that are found in art and nature, your curiosity will drive environmental inquiry. Develop a deeper understanding of art and plants against a backdrop of the garden’s vibrant colors. This experience takes place at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden.
Landscape & Literacy:
Explore the beauty of landscape within an urban setting. Use simple scientific tools and equipment, including a customized dichotomous key, to identify plants and test recaptured water from our pond. Plus, customized grade-level literacy connections will be introduced. This experience takes place at BRIT.
Texas Eco-regions & Science:
Travel back in time to explore the history of the Rock Springs Garden. Discover three action processes that shape and change landforms. Evaluate native plant properties and their energy flow throughout this ecosystem. This experience takes place at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden.
Engage in a world beneath your feet by exploring vegetation and seeing how soil becomes healthier through the process of decomposition. This experience will further the understanding of the interdependence of a natural system. This experience takes place at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden.
Change Over Time:
Take a peak into the earth’s past through geological landforms that helped create our local Texas soil. Then, explore BRIT’s herbarium that houses close to 1.5 million plant specimens. Unleash your creativity to identify, name and mount a unique specimen of your own. This experience takes place at BRIT.
Soil & Design Thinking:
Use scientific tools to examine two distinct sets of soils and determine which was chosen by engineers to be used on BRIT’s very own living roof. Next, binoculars and hand lenses will be used to view the roof and compare the plants found there to the ones found on the prairie. This experience takes place at BRIT.
Time: 10—11:30 a.m. experience and/or 12:30—2 p.m. experience
Cost: Cost is per class:
$150 per class* for your first experience.
Add a second experience for an additional $90 per class* more.
(*34 students or less is one class)
Teachers/Chaperones: There is a requirement for one (1) participating teacher/ parent chaperone per 10 students free of charge. Any additional teachers/ parent chaperones will be $6 each. Max 20 per class.

Payment: Payment is due two weeks prior to your trip. Pay by credit card, check, or purchase order.
Cancellation Policy: Up to 14 days prior to the field study trip, a full refund is offered. If you must cancel, no refund is offered less than 14 days prior to the field study trip. In extreme weather situations a rescheduling option may be available.
